The coverage you elect within these events for medical, vision, dental, and FSA plans stays in effect for the calendar year. You cannot make any changes to this coverage during the plan year unless you take action within 31 days of a Life Event or a HIPAA Special Enrollment Event.

If you enroll dependents on medical or dental coverage, you will be required to submit timely proof of the relationship.  See the Eligibility section for further information.

You can change the following elections at any time:
  • Life Insurance Beneficiaries (Benefit Event Type: Beneficiary Change)
  • HSA Contribution (if enrolled, Benefit Event Type: HSA Contribution Change)
  • Voluntary Life Change ((Evidence of Insurability (EOI) required for new enrollments, Benefit Event Type: Voluntary Life Change/Update))
  • Commuter (For Chicago and East Metals employees- Benefit Event Type: Commuter Change – Transit/Parking)
To change these elections within Workday, go to the Benefits Icon and select the Change “Benefits” option and select the appropriate Benefit Event Type, as listed above.

Choosing the Best Plan for You and Your Family

When choosing a medical plan, it is important to look at your budget, your preferences and the age and health of you and your covered dependents. You should consider the key differences between plan types and choose one that best suits you and your family. The plans differ in the following areas:

  • Cost of coverage, including payroll contributions and how you and the plan pay for services throughout the year
  • Convenience, covered services, access to providers, and ease of use

 Cash-In-Lieu

Eligible employees may receive cash in lieu of medical/ vision and dental coverages. If you waive the medical/vision benefits, you will receive $200 per month once a completed waiver form is received. An additional $50 per month is available for those employees that waive the dental coverage. The waiver is not provided if you are covered under another EVRAZ employee’s benefits. Cash compensation is subject to all applicable income and employment taxes.  Proof of other group/employer-sponsored coverage must be provided.

What Happens After Enrollment

After you enroll, you will receive ID cards from the medical plan you select, and from Delta Dental (Moda) if you enroll in dental coverage for the first time or change your coverage. You will not receive an ID card for vision coverage. Please note that you have the option to print your Highmark BCBS ID card directly from your member website.  When you receive your ID cards, confirm that all information is accurate. If not, contact your HR Representative right away.
